The York Water Company Acquires Wastewater System Serving Chanceford Crossing
York, Pennsylvania, January 29, 2026 – The York Water Company (NASDAQ: YORW) announced today that it has acquired the wastewater collection and treatment assets serving the Chanceford Crossing community in Chanceford Township, York County. This acquisition adds approximately 280 customers to The York Water Company’s expanding wastewater portfolio.
JT Hand, President and CEO of The York Water Company stated, “York Water is pleased to expand our reliable wastewater services to the residents of Chanceford Crossing. The previous owner and operator, having served this community for more than 30 years, decided to sell the system to a professional water and wastewater operator. York Water will construct a modern wastewater treatment plant, decommission the antiquated lagoon treatment system, and create a long-term, sustainable and environmentally sensitive wastewater solution for this beautiful residential development in Chanceford Township. We are honored to be chosen as the partner to meet these needs.”
The York Water Company brings the expertise, capital and human resources to invest in infrastructure that will deliver long-term safe, efficient, reliable, and sustainable wastewater service for the Chanceford Crossing community. Residents of Chanceford Crossing will ultimately be connected to York Water’s expanded wastewater treatment facility in nearby Felton Borough. Until that connection is complete, York Water will operate the existing facility onsite at Chanceford Crossing.
Once decommissioned, consolidating two wastewater treatment plants into one expanded plant will result in a single discharge, improve surface water quality and ambient conditions in the community, and lead to operational efficiencies.
CMV Sewage, Inc. owner and spokesman, Sam Juffe added, “CMV Sewage Inc. has been honored to operate this utility service for our residents for the last three decades. In 2023, we recognized the need for substantial capital investment, along with the technical and operational expertise to address the challenges facing the existing system. We are confident that The York Water Company is the right community partner. Throughout this transition, the leadership and representatives of The York Water Company ensured that community voices were heard, and for that we are grateful.”
The York Water Company provides water and wastewater services to over 212,000 residents across 57 municipalities and visitors in Adams, Franklin, York, and Lancaster counties.
