Service Line Inspection Request

Prior to beginning a new service, York Water requires the inspection of all service lines for residential, commercial, or industrial customers installed 60 feet or longer. These visual inspections serve to ensure the water lines are safe, code-compliant, and properly installed.

Inspections must be conducted before backfilling and in most cases will take several days to schedule, so requesters are reminded to plan accordingly.

Select from one of the following Service Line Inspection Requests to submit your request:

  • Amblebrook Service Line Inspection Request
  • Commercial Service Line Inspection Request
  • Main Extension Service Line Inspection Request
  • Residential Service Line Inspection Request

Until further notice, service line inspections in Amblebrook will be completed weekly –
every Thursday (weather dependent).

Service line inspection requests must be submitted no later than Noon on Wednesday to be included in the current week’s service line inspections.

Following the completion of the requested service line inspection, a York Water team member will provide an update on the status no later than 5:00 pm the next business day.

NOTE: The York Water Company Water Service Application is required prior to any inspections. If you have not already completed and submitted this application, please download, complete, and submit to dist.services@yorkwater.com.

York Water requires a minimum of 48 hours for commercial service line in-person inspections.

Following the completion of the requested service line inspection a York Water team member will provide an update on the status within two business days.

York Water requires a minimum of 48 hours for Main Extension Service Line Inspections.

York Water will accept photo submissions for Main Extension Service Line Inspections. Be prepared to provide up to three photos per lot number as outlined below. (Note that Photo 1 and Photo 2 are both required. Maximum file size for all photos combined: 32 MB)

  • Photo 1: Clear image of male-by-flare fitting
  • Photo 2: Clear image of unjointed k-copper ran to the meter location
  • Photo 3 (if available): Clear image of meter set up

Following the completion of the requested service line inspection a York Water team member will provide an update on the status within two business days.
