Update on Water Taste and Odor, August 29, 2023

The safety of our drinking water supply is our highest priority. We assure you that the water distributed to your taps meets or exceeds all drinking water standards and is safe to drink. York Water is aware that some of our customers have been experiencing a taste and/or odor in their water that is different than the normal York Water product.  We continue to conduct taste and odor monitoring at multiple points in our system and adjust our treatment processes to minimize any effects in our finished water. While Hurricane Idalia takes aim at Florida’s Gulf Coast, York County and 19 other Counties in Pennsylvania remain under drought watch.  Ambient conditions including sustained high air and water temperatures, humidity, and drought conditions are still factors affecting our surface water source of supply requiring our staff to diligently manage our treatment techniques at our filter plant.

We understand the inconvenience this may have caused some of our customers and we appreciate your patience as we work to minimize the effects of local weather patterns.
